Default 71 12 volt ignition source

I have a 71 SB and recently had my distributor converted to electronic by DUI. I now have problems with missing, erratic idle and fouling plugs. DUI says I need 12+ volts to the coil. The stock electrical system only provides ~ 9 volts after the engine has started.
Where is the easist/best 12 volt ignition switched source?

All GM cars have a 12ga pink wire from the fuse block to the ignition switch at the base of the steering column. It's a pain to work on (especially on a Vette) but this is a reliable power source and the same wire used by the factory for HEI. Splice an additional 12ga wire into the pink wire, solder & heat shrink the connection, and run the new wire through the firewall either through an existing grommet or install a new grommet. You can get the distributor connector from most auto parts stores.

This is probably the best.
The easiest is using the wiper wiring or the back-up light wiring.I prefere the back-up wiring.

As an alrernartive to the above suggestions, I replaced the wire that currently leads the 9 volts with a wire that doesnt have the resistror. The in-line resistor reduces the voltage. To change the wire I separated the wire harness at the junction block on the firewall and removed the wire. Then I installed the HEI conversion wire sold by Year One. They sell them for $9.
