Default 1982 engine timing chain

I brought the Vette in for some work at my local garage. The engine wasn't running too well and a new exhaust and some other minor things that I found when I got back from Iraq. Anyway the timing gear was stripped and the chain had slipped so now the valves got damaged and we're looking at rebuilding the engine.
Is there a place to get a rebuild that I can put the crossfire injection intake on or can I just change it out all together? What would need to be done and how much would it cost? Is there any informative web sites that could help me out. I'd like to keep the original engine, but don't really need to have it in the car.
Lots of questions all at once. Any help would be appreciated.
Tom

Go to the http://www.crossfire.homeip.net/ CFI forum for help. Crossfires are good cars/motors when maintained correctly..not garbage.

Interesting-I didnt think the valves in the 82 would hit the pistons.I always thought there was enough clearance built in.
