Noisy lifter.... damage??? update
Hi all,
Finally got a chance to pull the valve cover off. Found one of the push rod guide plates (manley 42164) had broken. Fortunately the piece was right there to pick up. The roller rocker (1.72 ratio) was off center so there was some damage and needs replacing. The stud was scored so I will be replacing both of those. (one not so bad but figure I’ll change both.) Likely get 2 ARP bolts for now and replace the rest this winter when we replace the valve as the tip is scored quite bad from the rocker not being centered on it.
Pulled the other valve cover off and everything looks good. Although we will re-set ALL the rockers as some of them were loose. (Why were they loose???) While we were ‘wrenching’ decided to change the jets on the carb (Holley 770 SA) as Lars has recommended. So put the 75’s(from the secondary) in the primaries and new 83’s in the secondary.
