Sound like thermostat ?
Problem child is '80 Vett.
When I turn off the engine, I hear a gurgling sound. To the untrained,it sounds as if engine coolant (at this point water) is backfeeding into the plastic storage reservoir. Was wondering if this could be a thermostat issue ?
Any suggestions.

Probably not. Part of the system actually bypasses the thermo at all times (heater). What you probably hear is water easing back after haveng been under pressure from the water pump activity.Thats just a guess mind you, but the sound you speak of isnt uncommon.
Oh,almost forgot. Thermo issues are usually pointed to by extremly slow comming up to operational range(staying open) or overheating . Staying open is usually the most common problem these days.
