Thumping noise

Hello. My 1980 has a thumping noise from the rear. It disappears when I accelerate or have steady throttle, but as soon as I let off the pedal, I hear a thump, thump, thump. I've read some posts and changed the differential bushing and all u-joints, and changed the rear axle fluid. Noise is still there. Any ideas? Thanks! JG700

Have you checked all the other bushings back there? Differential mount, TA's, Camber rod, shocks..

Isn't the differential mount the one directly under the rear u-joint? It has a top and a bottom? If so, I did replace it. I'm not sure where the other bushings you refer to are. Anyone have a diagram?

There are bushings in each end of the camber rods, on the spring bolts, in each end of the shocks and in the front end of the trailing arm

Does the rear camber look out of wack ?Are the wheels sitting straight or are they leaning out at an angle? My problem was bushings in the strut rods.They disintergrated.
