Motor weights..
What does an iron headed small block weigh vs. an aluminum headed big block? I checked the archives, but maybe I'm not a very high tech redneck and missed an obvious answer. What do they weigh with each having iron heads? TIA.

Don't have exact numbers, but I believe a BB w/alum. heads and intake ought to come in around 600#. An all iron SB weighs about 575#. SB with alum. intake and iron heads around 535#. Btw, the all aluminum ZL1 weighs only 550#. All iron BB would probably be pushing 700#.
For that small of a weight penalty, give me BB grunt and reliability any day.
