Default T-Top rattles

Any Ideas.....I have 71 coupe when I remove the t-tops there is a rattle from debre I can only assume rust that has collected over the past 35 years. There seems to be no access to let this debre out .I dread the idea of cutting anything .anyone with similar problem or should just live with this extra large baby rattle . Secondary question can you buy the filter part of fuel vapor canister without buying a whole new canister ?

Were the t top weatherstrips ever replaced? If so, some of the plastic retainers broke and fell inside. Mine does the same thing.

Had this same problem on a 68 I had many years ago. I turned and twisted the T-Top until I had all the pieces in one corner. Sat the T-Top up on end (pieces in the bottom corner and drilled a 1/8" hole just in front of the corner where the pieces were. Next I mixed up some 15 min. epoxy and proceed to work it in the hole (slight tilt so the epoxy would run to the rogue pieces. Left it over night no more rattle. I guess that is a Bubba fix but it worked and no major cutting.

I had the same problem with my 77. There are gaged nuts up inside between the inner and outer roof panels. The screws hold the side trim and wheatherstrip to the top . The cage for the nut rusted away and that is the rattle. I removed the headliner panel I drilled a 1 inch hole in the inner panel between the latches with a hole saw. I was able to remove the rust using a magnet. Then I was able to remove a cage or what was left of it to make new one's. That took a lot of time to make as no one is reproducing them. Then I fished them through the 1 inch hole I drilled with a wire then riveted them back into place. I found a plastic 1 inch plug to put in the hole I drilled. Then installed the headliner.
