Hi - new here! I bought a 79 and have started to restore it. I will post some pics in the future. Replaced the clock and that works great. Now the gas gauge! I've read the some other posts and here is what I've checked:
The gauge pegs to 3:00. Checked and cleaned the ground on the sender/frame. Ran a ground from the sender to the gauge.
Checked the resistor on the gauge - 30.8 ohms, the resistor on the temp gauge is 39.1 ohms.
I get 4.2 m ohms from the sender to ground.
The sender to ground reads 10.4 volts.
One side of the gauge reads 14.8 volts to ground, the other side 10.4 volts.
What should I check/replace?
Thanks
Yes, the pink wire at the sensor. The ground for the sensor should be connected to the round mount plate to the right of the sensor, just ground it there
Got it thanks! The gauge went to empty so it's time for a new sender I guess. I saw the post where someone adapted a JC Whitney unit. Can I get a sender at NAPA or the like?
Thanks again.
