Default electrical Questions...again

So...I am in the process of installing a new front lighting harness along with a new alternator and engine harness... while dealing with the front lighting I notice that there are three plugs that go to each headlamp set. One to the high beam, one low beam and one to a small two prong switch of some sort on the bottom of the headlamps housing/ brackets. The passenger side has one of these but the driver's side doesn't, een though there is an electrical plug for it. Limit switch or something maybe? What is it and do I need to have it. The lights both worked just fine before I started the restoration. Thanks in advance for the help.

Those are the headlamp warning switches. One on eack h/l assembly. They remind you to turn the lights off if the headlamp doors are down.

Default ok...

so do I need it or is this just an extra thing that can be replaced down the road?

there is a warning lamp on the dash indicating when the lights are on and the headlamp doors are not fully open. your warning lamp must be burned out or you'd notice it. it's like the door ajar lamp.
you don't need it to go down the road . . .
