Well, I thought I was officially done with the entire brake system...until I drove the car out of the garage after installing the new SS parking brake components.
I have replaced everything from the master cylinder and hand brake lever cable. The brakes are now SS lines with new standard calipers with new rotors and pads and braided lines at the calipers. Also replaced the parking brake cross-cable and pads as well as the components with SS.
When I backed it out I heard noises like something catching. I re-checked everything, and now I'm hearing a rubbing noise, but at least no catching/ticking noise. What could this be? is this normal for a complete new install until the pads and rotor mesh-up? Or, is something wrong? I've driven about 30 miles on it so far. Also, I can't seem to get a full/hard brake with the ebrake yet, as I can't skid the tires.
Could someone please provide some suggestions? THANKS!
Just did my parking brakes last week. The clicking is most likely one of the pins rubbing the inside of the rotor as was the case with mine since my pin support was bent. A few good taps with the hammer on a socket over the pin (don't hit the pin) and the pin cleared the rotor. I think you should open it up and make sure everything is in place. Good luck those parking brakes require a lot of patience!
