Default Help me decide what to do next :)

I'm trying to decide which performance upgrade to do next, any input would be appreciated. It's a 1980 L-82. I've redone the rear (springs, all new bushings/u-joints/etc.), switched to 3.70 gears, and upgraded the transmission to a 700R4 with a shift kit and all the goodies. Also the exhaust has been converted to true dual exhaust (original manifold, new pipes, no cat, and flowmasters).

The back-half of the car is how I want it for now. I haven't done anything under the hood yet, it's still all factory parts (or equivalent GM/Delco replacement) and I'm trying to decide what to do next. I'm not going to change the motor, nor am I going to do anything that requires a different hood or anything like that. I'm going for the whole 'element of surprise' thing.

I need to do all new bushings up front and fix a balancer seal leak, but other than that everything is good. So here's my short-list for under the hood... performance intake, 750 carb, jet coated headers, MSD ignition.

Think that's a good start? What else would you guys recommend?

Headers and the intake first and then a good tune. Try that out to see how much you like it. What carb are you using now?

It's already tuned (week ago), and using the stock Quadrajet. Thinking maybe edelbrock, but not sure yet.

If that is your shortlist of items, I would to the intake and headers, although the L82 aluminum intake is pretty close to any aftermarket intake that will fit under the hood. If you are not doing anything else, leave the carb and distributor alone.

Replace weights & springs in distributor to bring the advance in earlier, set total advance at 36 degrees, have your Qjet set up the way Lars does them and then add headers and camshaft.

Headers, cam, keep the quad and dist and tune them like mentioned above. Only other thing would be changing heads

As long as it has the GM weights, leave them in. The aftermarket weights are crap. Softer springs will help though.

How are the brakes? Sometimes you have to stop as fast or faster then you start.
