My rear leaf spring bolts are at an angle instead of going straight down through the leaf spring. It is a stock 71 and even the support bracket for the leaf spring bolts look twisted. The last time I checked they were straight but now both sides are bent. What could cause this and how do I fix it? Any help would be appreciated.
My spring looked the same on my 76,even a new spring, long story short i replaced the trailing arms and the front bushings on the arms were GONE,causing the rear suspension to be all out of whack.replaced the trailing arms and everything is straight now.
With no tires/wheels and the rear of the car off the floor there is no weight on the spring thus it pulls down and in.
Put the wheels back on and drop the car to the floor then give it a roll and the spring will flatten back out.
Looks normal-but your upper washer on the drivers side is upside down-the rounded side should be towards the rubber cushion.I cant see well enough on the other washers.
Your spring bolts are ok...below is my 69 with Guldstrand 7 leaf...spring is shorter than stock by 1 1/2" and spring bolts are at a greater angle than stock..
