I'm thinking of going with the Edelbrock RPM kit (Summit Racing - sum-cbb2), but swapping out the carb and manifold for a Low-Pro Intake/Dual Quad Carb Kit so I don't have to deal with hood clearance problems. I don't see too many guys running dual quad setup's on the street, though. Is this a bad idea? Could I do better with a different carb, head, manifold combination?
Check out Sept. 07 Car Craft. They tested both styles of 2x4 set ups as well as several others. Actually pretty good reading..but you have to read closely. They tried to avoid direct comparisons between various mfg's..but with a little page flipping you can get some good info.
I think the most interesting part was the 40+ HP loss with some 2.5" pipes and Flowmasters over open header testing. They didn't come out and say it...instead they were comparing 3.0" against 2.5". But if you flip the page you can see same cam/head/intake/carb combo tested with open headers.
