Done a search and only came up with some ambigious threads. (Sorry if this has been addresedbefore). Installed a Speed City HEI and looking for a 12V power source. Hooked it up to the throttle solenoid, and can't get it to fire. Hooked up a volt meter, and it went from 12v to 0v when cranking(and realized that it had voltage on the Acc position of the ign switch).
Seems a lot of folks bought distributors(tach drive) from Speed City, and was hoping to hear how you folks powered them up(at 12V non-resisted switched power). Hoping for a source already under the hood, rather than bringing it thru the firewall. Thanks for any info.

On a vette I converted a while ago I used the (I think) pink wire that comes thru the firewall and connects to one post of the ballast resistor. The other post was connected to the coil. You need to get rid of the ballast resistor anyway and from what I remember it can reach the HEI without any other mods other than maybe a spade connector.
