Default Tstat?

Hey I'm in need of a new thermostat for my 80 L82, problem is its been modified by the last guy who owned it and I'm not sure what tstat he put in it. Any ideas on what i should get?

I'd go with what GM calls for, probably 195. Any parts store should be able to tell you.

still running the catalytic convertor? if so 195
if not 180.

Yea its got the cats on there but as far as i know there burnt out. But 195 sounds about right, atleast thats what it was runing at.

Whatever temperature you get for your thermostat, make sure you get a good one. A Robert Shaw made thermostat gives great water flow. They package these under other brand names. It should say high-flow somewhere on the packaging.

Robertshaw is very good. AutoZone used to have them in addition to their house brand. If you want a 180 that is the only way to go because GM stopped selling them several years ago. If you want a 195 I would just get it from the Chevy dealer.
