Default Stuck in park

I was wondering if anyone else has had problems with getting their car out of park and if so what the fix was? I have a 73 automatic. I just bought the car, had it flat bedded home. Went to back it up in the drive way, which is at a slight slant, the car stalled, started it back up and the shifter is locked in park. I tried to rock it alittle, trying to remove some pressure off the pin but was not successful. That and I was hoping that my wife would not run over me as I was rocking forward and she was trying to get it into reverse. I did not have any problems with it in the earlier two weeks. Any help would be appreciated, Thanks

I don't know if GM was sophisticated enough to do this back in 73, but most newer auto trans cars require you to step on the brake before you can get the trans out of Park.

The only time I have seen one stuck in park...is on a hill. yep, gotta rock her to get it unstuck. I know this is stupid to ask, but did she have the reverse "lock out" thing pressed while trying to get it unstuck?
