Default Broke a Bleeder Valve

Last caliper, last bleeder...too rusty...too much force...snap

Tried the bolt extractor already. Did not budge.

Drilled it to 7/32 (still smaller than threads). What size should the hole be for stock size bleeder?

What is the bleeder size tap?

Can I just drill and tap to next size bleeder? What size would that be?

Thanks guys.

i would try to get a healicoil. you should be able to take one of the good bleeders out to use for sizing. (edit; if you messed up the threads)

or just buy a new caliper

If you haven't damaged the threads, what you can do is work a tap of the proper size, (as said pull one of the other bleeders) and slowly work the tap in a little at a time..each time you turn it say a half turn back it completely out and try to pick the excess metal out with a sharp pick..( an old test light is god for this) a little time consuming but the best way

Years ago I broke one off in the 66 I had.

I put the caliper in a vise and drilled the bleeder out using a slightly larger bit each time, until using a bit just about into the threaded area. Then used a tap to get the rest of the metal out, as stated above.

Worked well. Was a real PIA.....

It just occured to me that what if I drilled the hole too deep? I drilled until I could see the bit just touching the stainless steel sleeve in the piston.

Does a bleeder bottom out on casting or could it be a blind hole?

Yes the bleeder has a seat.If you cant save the seat they make a bleeder repair that come with a new seat and bleeder.

Now that may be EXACTLY what I need. There is no price posted on the site, any idea? Shouldn't be more than a couple of bucks anyway...

Hopefully, they still carry it.
