Default AFR 195 heads, What spark plug?

I checked their site and got a starting plug recommendation. Rather than change plugs till I hit it right, any recommendations? My setup is 383, 10.4 to 1 comp. XE288HR cam, angle plug AFR 195, Hooker sidepipe headers. 150 Nitrous shot. (need 1 heat range colder). I would like a shorty plug to help with header clearance. Anybody with a similar setup that has been through this?

I can't help yuou, but you've GOT to fill me in on how this works out...I'm not sure of cam specs..but assumming you have the new afr heads...I'm planning on a build almost identical...differences would be no nitrous and the 230 heads...what intake are you running?? I was gonna go with edel air gap...

Mako, I don't think that intake/carb setup will work. Send it to me & I'll send you a correct 4-bbl & chevy intake.
It looks real old school.

AFR recommends the Delco 41-629 plugs, but they are a long plug. I just chunked some plugs in mine to fire it, can't believe the darn thing fired after I got the right plugs. I'm putting the engine back on the stand to re-torque & reseal the intake. Then I'll fire it one more time for an extended run to verify that got all the leaks plugged.

See my sig for info, but I also used Delco 41-629 plugs and they were perfect for me. (Check Delco plug numbers for 1 heat range colder if needed.)

Supposedly the Accel 0416S plug is the short version of the longer Delco plug, but it is a colder plug & some say it's a POS. The Autolite 3923 is claimed to be the same size as the Accel, but I haven't seen either.

Did a search and the Bosch 7557 interchandes with the AC FR3LS that is recommended but is the same length as the Accel shorty plug. It is also the correct plug for the new Chrysler Hemi. Still looking for real world input.

I noticed that too.

"Ya got a Hemi in that thang?" "No, but I've got Hemi plugs in it!"

I use the Autolite Platinums right now. # AP3924 with a .050 gap.

MSD E distrib. Taylor 409 10.4mm pro wires. Crane digital. Crane E-core super coil. It never misses a heart beat.

I tried some conventional plugs and my ignition is so strong that it eats away the center el. Platinum or iridium is the only way to go

Did you get a 5 point seat yet?

10.1-1 compression, comp cams xe284h, dart pro 1"s NO NITROS

I use the ngk 6130 (which is a 5 heat range)
the ngk 1086 is one step colder being a 4 heat range,

The ngk"s are a short plug, but not quiet as short as the accell"s, they work fine with my hookers but i don"t have angle plug heads.

I have seen the ngk"s in a set of dart iron eagles, angle plugs, taylor wires, at the race track so i know they"ll work, cause those wires look like welding leads !!!

It will fit under my hood. The intake is a very low rise. The nitrous plate and spacer is 1 1/4". The carb is 1" shorter than a Q Jet and the air cleaners are about stock height. I have a L88 scoop on the tilt front end that will accept a couple inches more height. No problem! I think it would fit under a stock hood if I milled 1/2 " off the bottom of the air cleaner base.

Are those short plugs? Got a set of Recaro buckets that fit. Have to fab up some brackets and will incorperate 5 point mounts in the seat brackets and reinforce the underbody mounts.

I use the Autolite Platinums right now. # AP3924. they are the shortest quality plugs I could find. They are only .100 longer than those junky Accel(S) plugs that they rave about being short header plugs.

I made a custom seat mounts to use the existing 4 bolt down spots on my floor. they are plenty strong enough.

APP 3924 is what I went with. Thanks George. Only FORD parts I have though.

I'd run Autolite 3923 with the nitrous. That's what I'm running with my blower, NA I used a 3924.

I just completed an 11:1, 396SB w/AFR195's. I only have about 70 miles on it but I'm using Autolite 3923 race plugs. 3924's are 1 range hotter. They fit fine with the Hookers.
