Maybe someone here has their 1977 build sheet in more or less decent shape? I have mine in terrible condition, so I would like to use another one as an example for decoding at least some information from mine. If you do not want to post the picture of it in forum, please, e-mail it to me to linasx(at)gmail.com
I took my 78 into a Corvette only service shop to have the steering fixed.
They gave me a plastic bag with the paper build sheet in it, wet with oil from 28 years of being wedged up over the rear diff. above the u-joint area.
I am sure that hunt4cleanerair will chime in soon he knows everything there is to know about about build sheets. Jud I found my build sheet from my 77 under the drivers side seat between the floor and carpet insulation. many others have found theirs attached to the gas tank.

I'll have a look there. That's one of the few places I haven't done so.

On my 77 the build sheet was above the sheet metat enclosure mounted above the gas tank. I wasn't really looking for it, I was just replacing hoses. It was illegible anyway.

I agree, it's not on the tank it's on the shroud that encloses the tank area. Impossible to get to unless you drop both the tank and that shroud.

I've got a nice picture of a build sheet found in the strut bracket of a 78 low-mileage silver anniversary car. It reeked of differential fluid. What motor/tranny do you have?
Another common area where build sheets are found is between the tach and speedo, as noted between carpet and insultation, stuffed up into cushion of the seat (from underneath) and suspension system. Even got a report that it was into the rear storage compartments...under the boxes.
the Allied Vaugh is a copy of the dealer invoice, includes RPOs but does not include the broadcast codes.

Doesn't work if you have a very early 77 - the first few weeks' records are missing.
From: Henderson Nv-Rohnert Park/Sonoma C o. ca/born in NY Rockaway Beach.
I found my build sheet. It was in very bad shape. It was behind the gas tank. I had to remove spare tire and the sheild that goes around the gas tank. I didnt remove the entire sheild just the 6 bolts and pulled it back.. and there it was..
The build sheet info here is interesting. I found a file with 3 build sheets from a 1977, 1978 and 1979 models that I had. The 1979 had the sheet tucked above the rear leaf spring. The sheet was kind of dirty but clean and legible on the side that matters. For some reason the very top left corner was cut neatly off. All St. Louis cars. On the 1977 model they used some nasty glue at the factory to affix the window sticker. It comes off OK but leaves a very yellow look to the paper after you soak it off and dry it.

For configuration I assume you mean the layout of the build sheet? These are for cars Exported to Canada but both the sheets are identical in layout with boxes numbered from 1 to 123. Just below the middle of the sheet is the options listed in 5 columns across the page. Both cars were automatics with FE7 suspension, nothing special. Z49 entry is 'Canadian base Equipment'.
