I recently posted on here that my gas level gauge quit working and I got a resolve for it but my bigger question is does anyone know how I can replace the gauges and/or bezel itself with something a little more modern this is all in a 1980. If anyone has any information on this please post back.
yeah I know about autometer but have any of you guys ever pulled those gauges out?? it's a mess back there it goes from a set of wires into almost a Circuit style thing does anyone have a wiring diagram for this I have a haynes manual but it doesn't include everything. also the ? is still out does anyone know of a place that has aftermarket dash or bezels that would house different gauges?
Not as common, but some people have gone with fully digital gauges w/led readouts. Most don't care for the look. Classic Instruments makes some pretty sweet gauges also. here is a link.
Thanks for the information on the digital gauges thats actually exactly what I am wanting I like the digital look especially for stuff like Temp, Fuel Level, that kind of stuff I still think that Needle is the only way to go for Tach and Speedo and I know a lot of people will disagree with me. Anyway thanks for the information and still out on the ? board does anyone know about a custom bezel or dash??
are the ones from the doakota place really over $1000?
I havn't seen any custom bezel faces for the center and speedo/tach cluster that will allow aftermarket gauges to fit..........all the ones i've seen people havemade themselves.....the center gauge cluster will fit the 2 1/16 gauges with very little modification, but it doesn't look thebest with all the lines and endentions in it.....
here's mine....i made the face plates for the speedo/tach and center cluster 1/8" out of lexan (type of plexiglass) and cut to fit....
i used the autometer designer black series and made the face plates out of 1/8" lexan (type of plexiglass):
this was after i had just finished, so they're a bit dirty:
if you need pics on how I mounted them just let me know....
