'72 small block, originally a th400 auto, but I'm on the tail end of a muncie conversion....
I'm having a hard time getting the shifter linkage rods hooked up. I have everything oriented as it shows in the AIM, but the reverse rod interferes with the 1-2 tab in the shifter itself. The forward gears are easy enough to get in place and seem to work fine.
Does anyone have a couple photos of how the rods are sitting at the shifter and at the reverse lever?
There must be something stupid I'm not doing or something flipped around.
without a photo of what you've done it's hard to say, but first thought is that you've got one of the rods mounted on the wrong side of the mechanism. it must be one of those "duh, why did i do that" things we all have done.
I tried reversing them and it just makes the problem worse. The reverse rod, with the way it's bent, doesn't clear the bracket the shifter's mounted to if I flip it around, but it would clear the 1-2 tab and rod.
There's not really much to photograph right now, I took all the rods out to start fresh.
I had everything oriented as it shows in the AIM and other books, with all 3 of the rod's ends pointing towards the pass side at the shifter.
