Door Spring Replacment / Picture
The instructions I had had the order in steps 2 and 3 out of whack (for mine at least) if memory serves. It may have been blind luck, but here's what I think I did to get it right:
1: Make sure all of the old one is out. It probably is.
2: I used some bent needle nose pliers to help handle the spring to get it behind, up, over, and in the back hole.
3: USE LUBE (I used some lithium grease) on the two cams (really slotted wheels which pivot with the door movement) and spring where they come into contact.
4: Get the long, vertical portion of the spring in the lower slot.
5: Here's where the directions were screwed up -FIRST tap the spring up - THEN use the installation tool, or a screwdrvier and block of some kind, I guess, to swing the lower, short, vertical portion of the spring towards the car.
It kind of felt right at the point, unlike the swing it over then "tap" the hell out of it to get it up into position without it moving a mm way. I think the spring kind of locks into place in the top hole in back at that point. But it has to be at the right height before you rotate the bottom portion toward the car.
It worked, I shook my head, and has been working for about a month with no problems.
Good luck.
Jim
