Default How to Use the Louis Tool?

With 1.6 Pro Magnum Rockers going on my intake valves (Cast Iron World S/R Torquers), I needed to elongate the push rod hole. I ordered a Proform Louis Tool from Summit, but it arrived with no instructions. I emailed Proform but got no response from them. The tool will not fit in the pushrod hole (or guide). I have an idea about how to make it work, but I hate to take a chance screwing the head up. Anyone used one of these things. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Default Google search?

Well if u are installing guide plates then the hole just needs to get bigger. The shop i bought my heads from installed guide plates so they just drilled out the hole. But if your smart enough to just use the stock casting guide holes and save the $$$ without the guide plates then u need to be careful to maintian the rocker tip alignment on the vlv tip.
I have only seen pix of this tool but i recall it has a correctly sized drill bit (5/16") that does the work by cutting with the side of drill bit flutes rather than the tip. And u don't want to cut too deep either but just enough to prevent drag on the p-rod - limiting the slot depth is good thing to prevent rocker from side loading on the vlv stm. Have read some just hog out the slot (elongate) with a simple dremel tool.
Here's a pix of the louis tool in action http://www.compperformancegroupstore...-POW351305.jpg - found it in a Google search. And this is from Comp's cataloge http://www.compcams.com/catalog/346.html - u may want to send them an email if u still have questions.

Good luck,

Find an old transmission magnet...like the one on the right

and put it around your drill bit!!!
It will REALLY help keeping the metal shavings out of your engine!!!
