My 77 got into a front end accident Sept 29, my friend has a neighbor with a 74 that he will sell for $2500.00. Will look at the car tomorrow but as far as I know the rear window is gone and the dash is tore apart, but the rest of the car is there. I want to use the front clip, headlight buckets, and brackets to rebuild my 77. Will the front clip of a 74 interchange with a early 77?
I should say, I don't want the 74 look (not that I don't like it, just trying to keep the 77 looking like a 77). Looking through the parts catalogs and some pictures and it appears the front fiberglass and bumper is different than the 77. Wonder if the headlight buckets are the same? Not sure if this is going to work...
Rod, everything should go together OK, the only thing is the other person mentioned is the '74 bumper will NOT have those bumper pads on each side of the license plate. Also, a '73/'74 bumper is "straight" across at the top center of the "V". A '75-'79 bumper protrudes up an inch, then is about 10 inches long on this upper "indent".
The '74 front bumper and related hardware is different (more or less straight across). That makes the upper surround panel also different. HOWEVER, the rest of the sheetmetal is essentially the same as your '77. The entire front clip will bond on to your '77.
