The front of my driver's side armrest/pull handle pulled off of the door panel. It looks like the plastic reinforcement has broken. Has anyone repaired on of these without replacing the entire armrest? Thanks.

You can buy the rapair parts to fix the door pulls from any of the major vette vendors. They cost about $5.00 each.
What I am talking about is the screw that fastens the upper part of the handle thru the door panel to part of the
door itself.

The screw into the door is solid. What is broken is the solid plastic piece that is inside the vinyl of the pull handle. It's broken just behind the screw into the door. Do the repair kits just fix a stripped screw?

Thanks Roy. Unfortunately, that won't fix my armrest, as the plastic is broken back in the handle. I guess I'll have to cough up the dough for a new one. It seems like the only way to get any other color than black, is to buy a pair for $120.

Ok, BUBBA talking here. Two things I can think of, if you have the panel loose at the bottom, you could possibly
reach up and hold a nut on the back side of the bracket, of course you would have to replace the original screw
with a bolt. 2nd option: get one of those plastic wall anchors like you put into sheet rock, jam it into the oversize
hole and use the approiate size screw.

Thanks Roy. That is exactly what I was thinking of doing: putting in a nylon drywall anchor with JB Weld. I think that will work. FWIW, here is a pic of a new armrest (they are scarce, BTW, normally on back order) with the repair kit. I had intended to put these new units on last summer with the repair kit already in place to prevent damage to the plastic mounting arm. It was a round toit that was not done. Spring is coming.

I have exactly the same damage to my passenger armrest. I've seen drivers side ones for sale separately, but not the passenger side. Seems strange - if they're making pairs, why don't they sell them singly?
If anybody ever needs an '81 drivers side armrest in Camel, I'll go 50/50 on a new pair :)
