I have an 82. I found a set of trailing arms that are remanufactured and are complete minus the rotors. I was told they are set up for vettes 68-75 (silver backing plate) and were going to be installed on a 69 but the car was sold before they were installed. The trailing arms were rebuilt 2 years ago and were never installed. Is there any modifications that need to be done to them so that they will fit an 82? I was told that the spindle flange may need to be changed to fit my year car. Are there any issues that may affect a trailing arm/bearing assymbly that has never been installed but has sat in a garage for 2 years?
The flanges are different. Yours have a yoke that goes on the back of the spindle that connects to the u-joint. Those have a flange that mounts to a flange on the u-joint. You could use them, but will have to change more than just the TA's. For all that I would just get yours rebuilt, less trouble and expense

So I could not remove the flange on the new trailing arm and replace it with the yoke of my stock trailing arms? I would have to replace the entire spindle?
You will have to swap out the spindle flanges from your 82 that on the car now and put them on the new units. Thats it. Torque the spindle nut to 100ft/lbs. All t-arms are the exact same from 65-82. Only differences are the spindle flanges and backing plate color. All flanges from 63-79 are the same. 80-82 have 2 types. 4 spd and auto. Some other MINOR differences were sway bar holes and 82's had a boot/cover that went over the outboard u-joint. Install the t-arm with the 82 spindle flange and call it a day.
"My employer has been in the Corvette rebuilding/parts supply business for nearly 14 years and each spindle is checked for runout and sent to a local machine shop to have the rotor flange trued to better than new specs if needed. Top quality Timkin bearings are used throughout."
He also told me his employer is a wholesale distributor that sell to MidAmerica, Ecklers and a few other parts retailers.
