Default wrong flywheel for merlin 509? inner diameter

I received a practically new flywheel included in a package deal with my Merlin 509.
Flywheel looks to be in great shape but when i went to mount it on the crank tonight it didn't match up. The Merlin is internally balanced and this flywheel has no counterweight, good start. But the centering ring on the crank is 2.5" outer diameter, the hole on the flywheel is 2.0" inner diameter. Naga..Naga..Naganafit!
Can't just machine the hole bigger b/c the bolt holes also have to be moved out, same pattern just too close to center.
Is this flywheel for a SBC?
When I go to Summit or Jegs they don't give me that inner diameter so how do I know which one to order for the engine?
I pulled out my old one that came with the 454 that was in the car and that one fits the crank b/c it has the larger hole and bolt pattern.
What gives? I was hoping to put this thing in the car on Sunday. I can't get a new flywheel by then.
Have to give the seller a call tomorrow.
Any ideas what this flywheel belongs to? its steel.

If it`s internally balanced and a 2 piece seal the L88 lightweight flywheel high revving {15 lb.} would be a good choice using the high performance L88 10.3 diaphragm clutch

I thought the crank diameter and flywheel bolt spacing/size was the same for all of the sbc and bbc motors? I'm not an expert though.

Thats what I thought. I don't have a part # for the flywheel but i know that this one and my old one off a 454 have different bolt spacing and center hole size.
Guess that engine isn't going into the car tomorrow.

I have a stock sbc flywheel rebalanced for a 400 with a new ring gear on it that I would sell you for nothing, but I don't think the SB and BB interchange? It's also not neutral balanced nevermind.

You will probably have yours running before mine at least. I finally found my wiring short today though, so things are looking up.

BTW, I got a cheap billet steel flywheel from CAT that was only like $100 off eBay. SFI approved as well. However, the machinist, when balancing it, thought there was a little runout on it, maybe .010, guessing. He didn't think it would hurt things since it's not an ultra high rpm motor. Also said, it might wear badely withe the ceramic clutch because the metal seemed a little soft when he balanced it. Probably should have just got a Hays for another $100, too late now though.

I guess that at 509, we're talking big block, so I don't know how relavent this is, but...

On smallblocks the flywheel/flexplate mounting flange diameter is different between the older two piece rear seal cranks and the newer one piece rear seal crank.

I had a similar problem with an aluminium flywheel Keisler sent with my TKO package. I have a crank with a one piece rear seal, and the flywheel flange was too small for the flywheel they sent.

C3 flywheels are the same for both small block & big block- both have a 2 1/2" diameter center register hole. Your flywheel with 2" center hole is obviously not the right match. Make sure you get one with the right # of teeth. Also, make sure you have the right bolt pattern for the clutch you're using.

Thanks guys for the replies.
I have talked to the previous owner/seller who has been great to deal with and he's ordered me a Hays 168 tooth flywheel. Should be here next week. I'll ship this one back to him.
I don't forsee the Hays flywheel having a problem mounting to the centerforce dual friction clutch but that would be my luck.
I'll let you know how things turn out.
I'll be fitting my hurst shifter linkage to the muncie in a few minutes and making sure everything is ready to go when i get the flywheel.
Thanks
