For a '79 T+T,
I am trying to get the dimmer rod attached between the switch on the end of the column and at the pivot point at the turn signal lever. The rod is stiff as can be and has no slack for me to be able to reach/connect it to the dimmer switch hole. I routed the rod in this little "V" on the column in the pic - as I assumed that this is what the "V" is for.
Should I not have routed the rod through this "V"? Is that why it is so tight?
This isn't aclose-up pic, but I think you can see that the 79 column hs the rod running under the outer cover. The cover on this column has been trimmed back to fit into a 72, so if the rod were under the inner piece you wouldn't be able to see it. If you are still having trouble seeing the problem sned me an email and I'll take a pic of the column. It's hanging in the body of the 72 right now so I can get a pic of the rod.
You can't see it very well in your picture but I believe that the metal bracket that the dimmer rod is snaking under is all part of the large column support bracket with the two aluminum mounting capsules. If that is the case, the dimmer rod should be routed outside of the bracket not through that notch.
