my 1982 corvette, where do i start, put a new motor in her, new exhaust, new fuel injectors, map sensor,,why is she flooding herself out, the top, injector is pouring to much gas and flooding her out...help me please . pcreps . the red vette is called CHRISTINE...
I just put a new motor 3 months ago, it just keep flooding itself out, the front new injector wont close and keeps dumping to much gas in, and it shuts off. pam
On my TPI, the injectors were dumping too much gas into the engine causing it to run rich, the biggest cause of this was I didn't have my exhaust sealed up correctly causing the oxygen sensor to "see" a false lean condition. Air was getting in through the doughnut seals and screwing my sensor readings up.
To compensate the injectors would pulse a little longer......because of this the engine ran like crap.
I installed new gaskets and made sure my exhaust was "air tight" and it fixed my problem.
You can get the same problems like this too if you have a vaccum leak around the intake as well.
could be a bad injector if the front injector is the only one dumping to much fuel. However, that is good advice about the exhaust leaking air. My car runs rich and I can not figure out why. Maybe just maybe that is my problem too!.
thanks for your help guys, it was a clogged EGR valve...thanks again:
Good deal, Make sure you do a fresh oil change in case there is a lot of fuel mixed in with your oil. Check you plugs too and make sure they aren't fouled.
