Dean, what's a ZIP code close to where your shipping company ports?

I can look it up and see if there are any low mileage T5s at salvage yards near that shipping company.

Matt, my shipping guy is over here and has helped me in the past to organize a pickup any where in the states. The port that the ship will leave from will be on the west coast. What I was hoping for is to see if a forum member would help organize the purchase and to personally check the trans for condition and year before it is shipped. I could arrange the payments to the parties involved of cause.

It would not be good to get a trans over here after 6 to 8 weeks and find out it is junk........

Thanks sly I received your PM and thanks for the offer, I may need your assistance if no one else can help. One question is what will I need to install it in my 81? It is now a 4 speed, so I figure a matching clutch plate, throw out bearing, rear yoke and some kind of shifter that will line up with my current shifter location. The spacer I can make up over here. The used T5 sounds good and if shipped all dirty is also good as there is a 20% duty on the cost and shipping charges then an additional 7% on that again. So if it truly is used it is better in order to show a low invoice. Then the new seals, clutch and what ever is needed to get her in shape can be sent by USPS and that is a cheaper import item then. I am still investigating a Tremec TKO But the cost for a rebuilt is near the price of a rebuilt T5.Now if they are nearly the same price I would think the Tremec TKO would be the better choice but that is why I am posting here......... to get info.

I'm thinking that the tremec would be the right choice also, but not sure.
Any thing I can do to help you get a 5 speed in your car I will try to do!

The T5 will come with a shifter stub. I imagine the others will also.
I modded my old comp plus handel to mount to the stub. I believe the shifter has to be moved back approx 1" and moved to the left approx 2" to center it in the shift boot.

Why would you bark at the guy like that??? He's offering something in response to a question. I'd be happy to have the information if I was Dean.

Sorry,I was having a bad day.
However, the profile thing is lets say "just a courtesy". and I have seen a few that are here only for the purpose of selling and if that is the case it should be in C3 parts for sale.I see now that does not seem to be his purpose. My apologies again and I will try to not "fire from the lip" so to speak.

Hi
I received you PM and thanks for the offer. But as I noted I am looking for a used trans in order to avoid heavy import duties over here, plus if it needs some rebuilding I can do that and the duties are lower for small parts.
BTW, good luck selling your Cobra setup.

Dean,
I don't know if this will help you but I bought my T5 from a local Mustang salvage yard. Their phone # is 865-484-1944 and their
e-mail address is performancemustangparts.com. They were a pleasure to deal with.

The 3650 will not work in a vette. It was designed for use with Ford's modular 4.6 and 5.4 motors. The bell's are integral on most of them(depending on year). Besides that, they have their own share of issues. They are a multi-rail internal linkage system like the TKO. The speedo is electronic and will not work in a GM car unless you can figure out how to change the pulse width to something that a GM PCM can read.

Thanks Richard
I had already dismissed the 3650 mainly for price. Boy I wish I could afford a TKO but any parts I buy from the states cost me three time the advertised price after paying shipping and the Customs mafia and FedEx/ups mafias.
So a used looking trans is the only way to go, still I will pay dearly to get it in my hands.
Hopefully the T5 will have a way to connect the spedo?

I hate to spill the beans on myself but here it goes anyways..... I am a mustang fan thru and thru and my blood bleeds Ford Blue. I know of several T5's in my area...Give me a day or 2 to check them out and I'll get back to you. I am pretty confident I can find one for you. I'll let you know.

For what it's worth, I love vettes, I just can't afford one.
