I have posted in the "parts/wanted" but maybe someone has a tip for me. I'm looking for an ECM Rochester carb #17081217 for my 81.
I thought at one time someone had posted a gigantic list of carbs and their numbers they had for sale. Can't locate it now.

Check on Ebay for "E4ME" I just got one for a spare for my 81. Unless your looking to put together an NCRS numbers matching car don't worry to much about the number. Whats wrong with your carb?

The E4ME that was on the car at time of purchase is a #17082204 which is off an 82 automatic transmission car. Not a Vette. Lars says its not calibrated for a Vette and will be too lean. Which it is, it hesitates during slight acceleration under 2000rpm. Even after a rebuild from very reputible outfit.

I'm now running a standard non ECM carb #17059228 off a 79 vette which is better performing but not happy w transition to secondaries. Lars suggests getting the right carb for the car which is the number i'm asking for.

Are there different carb numbers for an 81 4-spd?

Any thoughts?

Thanks SixFooter

If the thing is running to lean it just probably needs to be tuned to the specs for the original one. There are all kinds of different numbers available, but I have not been able to find anything difinitive on what the differences are and I have found several places that say that 2 carbs with different numbers and years might be identicle, except for the number.
Very confusing. My carb isn't original either, but it ran well when it was running. I am in the midst of a full body off restomod but will have it alive in annother week or so.
Once alive I am going to use my carb as a test bed for 81 carbs, no one else is doing this, so I will.
look over on digitalcorvettes and corvetteactioncenter forums, some knowlwdgeable guys there, I am a member of both
