I replaced my proportionong valve and shortly thereafter the brake light came on. Apparently I did not bleed all the air out as I was in a hurry. I tried to reset the valve by opening a front bleeder and pumping the pedal a few times. Did not work. I am sure the little cylinder is stuck in the rear position. The front brakes will lock up on a gravel road. I did drive the car with the brake light on a few times. I read in another post about using air to reset the little cylinder. Can someone go into a little more detail on this? If I can try another method please let me know. I would like to take the car out today for a spin.
The valve is designed to "self center" when equal pressure is applied to both sides (front and rear). If the light will not go out then either:
1). You still have air in the system or
2). The parking brake switch is on.
To see if it's the proportioning valve switch, pull the wire off. If the light does NOT go out, then the problem is most likely the PB switch in the console.
