Default Vacuum lines

My de-smogged '74, auto, tech at work was doing work to it...noticed whoever de-smogged it took off all the vacuum lines from the trans to the engine, he'll be replacing them in the next few weeks. Is this a big job? How long approx? Any little tid bits of info to know? What will I gain by having these lines installed?

Thanks in advance,

Kevin

I may be wrong, but the only vacuum line I remember on my '78 from motor to Auto trans is a hardline coming out of the intake to the trans. It is conected to a fitting on the intake behind the carb and in front of the distributor.
If there are any other vacuum lines for the trans I'm forgetting about them.

Thats the only one, it goes to the modulator on the trans. Depends on how "Correct" you want it. No real reason why you can't just run a rubber vac hose for the thing, should take about 10 minutes. If you can get a "correct" hard line, it might take an hour.

Thanks guys, I think the tech was talking about running a rubber hose instead of hard line, it's a driver not a show car...

What improvements will I see when this is connected?

Thanks in advance,

Kevin
