Default Only One Brake Light Works?

I'm having a strange problem on my 77. When you press the brake pedal only the passenger side brake light goes on. The driver side light works all other times, flasher and signal. Why would it not work for braking? Fuse or ground issue? I think the ground is the same for all functions and the fuse must be good if the other light works? I'm grateful for any help.

Thanks!

As silly as this might sound - have you changed the bulb? The bulb has 2 filiments, the brake filimant could be broken.

I agree, put in a bulb that you know works well and see if it still has the problem. It may be as simple as a burned out filament.

Definatley a ground issue. I paid to have mine fixed. (duh). Exact problem. Trace the wires, making sure all connections and grounds are clean.

I didn't check the bulb I thought there was only one filament. I will check that tonight and feel really stupid if that's the problem. I will also make sure the ground is clean. There is only one ground right? The onle located on the rear post?

Your brake light wires and bulbs are the same as the turn signal wires and bulbs--same grounds also--so if the turn signals work its not grounds or wiring or bulbs. There is only one brake light switch for both rear lights. The point where they seperate is the contacts in the turn signal-thats probably where you'll find your problem. Try stepping on the brake and moving your turn signal lever and see if the drivers side will light sometimes. If you have a test light you can probe the wires in the harmonica connector-the green wire is the RR--the yellow is the LR -probe those 2 wires while pushing on brake pedaL.
