seat belt spring
The passsenger seat belt failed to retract, pulled the cover off and the spring shot out, a real mess. Is it possible to replace the spring or do I need a new seatbelt? Do they come in single units or do I need a pair? Thanks

I rebuilt my 2 retractors about 5 months ago after I priced new ones out
I decided to try to repair what I had which was already in good shape other than dirty and the belt only retracting 1/2 ways.
I took mine apart (76 vette) cleaned it good and carefully rewound the spring and installed the retaining cap. Its worked fine for me. Just make sure you wind it real tight so it has the right preload to retract. If you wind it too much you won't get the belt out all the way- it'll just stop since the spring coil can't compress any more. Good luck either way-
