Default heads on 75

i need to get new heads for a 75 vette- l-48 summit 1102 cam, edelbrock per. intake.

i dont need the best or really high compression. i want to boost performance some, but need to keep the price down as much as possible.

what cc and brand would you guys recommend. i dont know what im looking at here so any help would be great.

thanks, sean

the originals are 76cc so you can get either 64 or 56 cc depending on how high you want the compression to be.

steel heads will be cheaper than aluminum. the 75 heads have bad flow so anythings an improvement. maybe just a replacement from an earlier 350 .

those casting numbers seem to indicate that those heads are for a 305. still a small block but i don't think they will flow very good on a 350

One of the first mods I made to mine was to install Dart II heads. They're now called Sportsman II by World Products & sold by Summit. They're available in 76cc & 67cc if you want to increase compression. Also available in cast iron or aluminum. Advertised to increase HP by 30 out of the box. A good investment.

You can get Dart Iron Eagles 64cc that'll bump that compression for only $500 a head. The sportsman II though are a great deal, and you really can't get alot more with that cam and intake. Have you though about bumping up to the L-82 cam?

i've been looking at doing this with my '77 l-48 heads. i want to upgrade to the old "fuelie" heads. they have bigger valves and are 64cc. they are relatively cheap on ebay.

This is a purdy ggod deal from Scoggin Dickey

The cost is $1084. This upgrade to a L-48 has been posted here. Hood clearance is obtained with an Holly avenger carb and drop base AC. If your budget will permit, go with a hydraulic roller cam. This is one thread about the upgrade that may help.

i found these seperatley off summit
http://store.summitracing.com/partde...232+4294838998
with this i have to buy bolts, gaskets, and do they fit up to my hooker headers?

or are these the same thing but come with gaskets, bolts and i can sell the intake.

thanks, just trying to keep the cost down as much as possible. $800-900 if i can

Check out the Brodix IK 180. They run about $1000 but are a quality aluminum head. Your stock heads are 76 CC. The fuelly heads won't have acc. holes unless they are 1969 or 1970 heads and those are bringing big bucks. I have 2- 64CC 186 fuelly cores with accessory holes for $200 if you decide to go with iron fuelly heads. They are magnafluxed and guaranteed crack free and rebuildable.

i don't think intakes for standard and vortec heads are interchangable.

I haven't heard of those heads but I was told that 200cc runners are pushing the envelope with my motor combination, a ZZ4 with a mild cam. I bought some Brodix IK-200's and was ready to install them and also discovered that the intake would not fit them either. I exchanged them for IK-180's and like them very much, great heads!

NO ... those have vortec intake manifold pattern & will not fit your intake [requires another (vortec) intake manifold or machine shop labor to make yours fit] ... also those vortec heads require different valve covers ... vortecs to L48 retrofit requires different rocker arms (or addition of guideplates), different intake & different valve covers ... the summit heads (SUM-152123) I suggested earlier fits what you currently have.

-edit- even when old intake modified to fit vortec ... it won't fit well ... poor port match.
