71 Rear Noise

71 Rear Noise
My 71 has developed a noise in the rear that sounds like a universal scrubbing the underside of the car when accelerating hard or if there is a passenger it seems worse. I have checked the U joints and put it on a lift and tried manipulating anything that would move. Has anyone else had a similar problem.

I would check your differential upper and lower cushions. I am betting that they are worn out causing this problem. I just had mine replaced on the '72. They were just about flattened out.

I am driving it to Funfest next week and then plan to fix the gremlin that makes the noise. Funfest is only about an hour or so from me, but C3X in Bowling Green is a bit farther . I really didn't want to head out that far without knowing/fixing the problem.
