I was told that my 1978 L82's rear end is the same one as the 1968 L88's, is this correct?
My 78 has a zz502 and the CCS 5 speed transmission and McLeod clutch. With over 500HP, my weak spot is now the rear end. I was told that the rear end in my car is the same as the one in the L88, so it should handle the HP. Is this true?
i think all corvettes from 63-79? used basically the same rear end. only the yokes were different for small Vs. big block because of the u-joint straps. and then the 63-65? used a different posi case
The L88 also had better bearings in the rear end and also the wheel bearings.I never actually saw the "better" bearings in the rear end but I did see them in the wheel bearings. They had a letter or number designaton that gaged their quality. It was either "00" or "AA" if I remember right.
