Can anyone post how to replace the rear pinion seal? How do I know that after I remove the nut and replace the seal that I get the nut back to the original position? As to not effect the pinion setting etc.
thanks
when reinstalling pinion nut do not use a impact gun. A 3/8 drive ratchet& socket should be sufficient. If you use a new nut(recommended) there will be a run on torque of the nut,but that will be considerably less than torque needed to crush the sleeve any further.
Torque should be about 70-80 ftlbs to make sure the pinion flange is properly seated against the bearing.
Most times the bearings will not come loose when pulling the pinion flange and it takes about 200 ft lbs to crush the sleeve.
