Default Correct Paint

i read last time about paint ... and i read someone make 2 primer coats, 4 basecoats , 4 clearcoats ..

another time i reed .. great lack with 50 coats ...

usualy , perfect body need 1 primer , 2 basecoats and 2 clearcoats ...

What exactely for are so manny ( 50 !?? ) coats ?? What is correct lack for C3 Corvette ??

The person who make paint of my corvette know but do not want to say .. and i am the person who want to know - even when i never will paint corvette - i just want to know exactely how to do !!??

Someone maby know source of information about Factory CORRECT paint of C3 body ???

As far as correct factory paint goes, i believe the used some type of thermoplastic paint... not compatible with modern paints btw.

I have a silver 79 and this was a 1 coat metalic. So no clear coat on top. Very poor quality if you ask me.

I will have the old paint formula converted to 2 coat system (base lack and clear coat).

As for the number of layers that is only important if you want to get it really slick... you sand with finer and finer grids in between layers, to get that deep gloss.
