I have replaced everything possible in the steering system and front end but when I am on the highway it is a struggle to keep the car going straight on the road. If I hit a groove in the road I can easily find myself in the next lane so it takes 2 hands always to drive. Alignment and tire pressure have also been checked. Not sure if this is the way that vettes are supposed to drive or if there is a problem.
did you check the condition of the rag joint as mine did this until I replaced that little circular piece of rubber composite (sort of like a piece of an old tire). What springs and shocks are you using?

79V, you have aftermarket wheels/tires on there...or more or less stock type?? narrow profile tires will greatly accentuate the problem, especially if they are wider than normal which is 7.5-8.5 inches....tread width now, NOT wheel width....
second off, need know the front/rear suspension is in good tight condition.....and the entire steering system too....
BUT having said all the above, you have to know that lots of that problems were in MY car too, and it's the primary reason along with quicker ratio, that I put in a rack back in early '02.....
my car was new or tight, and still ran like all over the roads at speeds...constantly tugging/correcting the wheel.....just like most all cars of that era.....nothing particularly differant....
modern belted tires react totally differantly than the old junk OEM stuff....
No this is not the way vettes drive. Mine did the same thing until the alignment was set with the proper toe in. I believe the information on setting this was from VBP but at any rate talking to one of the vette suspension specialists should put you on the right track. Mine now is a pleasure to drive. Good luck

Do you have the proper toe in settings. I can't seem to find a shop to get it right and have removed all my power steering components and now have decent high speed control. If you could tell us what the proper toe in is at least I could get the garage to do it right and throw my PS back in.
I wish I had the specs for you however I got them from an article on alignment from the VBP catalog ( I think thats it) and I no longer have that catalog. As I said it was scary twitchy before alignment to those specs and afterwards perfect. An alignment specialist should know the effects of toein on steering response however it seems many are clueless.
Good luck

Get it aligned properly. I had some of the same issues but recently had it aligned according to the VBP specs and it drives great. Like night and day. Finding someone who will do a 4 wheel alignment properly on a Corvette is a challenge. Go to the local Corvette club or NCRS meeting and ask around there should be someone in your area who they go to.
