restoration
so in that case, is it worth my money/time to do this to a vette or should i look at another car, is there anything specific i should look out for when buying one, mainly does the condition of the car really even matter since i am going to be gutting it anyway? and any other recommendations would be greatly appreciated.
thanx!

The beauty is in the eye of the beholder ( often said by my wife). If you don't care about the value of the car and just want a "nice driver", then go for it! but, if you are going to do a ground up, you are going to spend alot of $$$ even if you do it yourself. I am doing a 78/79 (it's a long story) frame off and it's a never ending thing to buy parts. i've replaced everything on it. there are alot of things that are easier to replace while the body is off the frame. best if you have a garage to work in. for future resale, you'd be better off buying something that needs restoration but with matching numbers, but with a good frame (never hit). if you can, put the car on a lift or jack it up because the frames like to rot towards the rear (around mount # 3) of the frame. look in there with a flash light and inspect the frame very well. mine was shot. it rotted thru out the whole car making it unsafe for the road. a few good burnouts would have ripped the rear out. if you can afford it, get something in the 63-67 era (that's my next project car). that can be your retirement fund
good luck!
