A few days ago I adjusted my idle a little lower. The vehicle seemed to be idling to high at stop lights (around 1000rpms) so I adjusted it down to around 600/700 rpms.
Well now at a cold start the engine runs really rough, smoking etc.. for the first 1 minute or so and even stalls sometimes. Do I need to adjust something else (idle mixture screw on the carb??) because of the lower rpm at idle? My electric choke is working and I pulled a couple of plugs and they are a light brown/tan.
The choke may be working, but is it adjusted properly? When cold, the choke blade should be right about 3/8" from being closed.
Check this to see, and adjust if needed.
I am thinking it is time to go thru my entire ignition system- only happends now when the weather is chilly. Me adjusting the RPMs was just a coincidence with the cold weather.
