Default Power Steering Pump Removal

I'd like to take the power steering pump off my car for the weekend and go racing. Its straight line 1/4 mile and the pump has been giving my trouble. I'm short on time and wondered if I could remove it and just plug the lines and go racing. i have all winter to fix it up or change to standard steering but need a fast fix for this weekend!

Please the more info I get the better!

You would probably be better off not plugging it but draining the system. The cylinder is going to make it tough to steer if it is full of fluid and plugged.
EDIT-If you dont want to remove the pump- just remove the belt and drain it.

I don't know what type of set-up you have---but could you remove that belt or replace it with-out running the pump or remove the pulley.
Just my 2 cents!

Just take the belt off the pulley. There is no need to remove the pump.

What about the P/S actuator?

Will it still work being on the car without fluid running through it?
