Default Shocks That Will Work at the Strip?

I tried at on the C2 section but not much of a response so thought I'd try here.

I have to get new shocks for my '64. I drive the car but also get to the strip a few times a year. What are you guys using for shocks? Is just a good set of KYB GR2 suitable for the cost or should I spend the extra $$s to go with the QA1s because they are adjustable. In fact, is the adjustability of any value or just sales talk? Last option is to buy a set of dedicated drag shocks and replace when going to the strip.

Some insights please.

Thanks.

Bud.

Use QA-1's. They are adjustable and can do anything you want. I'm using just the single adjustables on mine and they work great. Just turn up the clicks for the track.

Vettes need a stiffer rear spring, smart struts to limit camber change, and good shocks to not only drag race, but improve streetability.

Default Ok

Looks like I splash out for the QA1s. I'll also look into the struts and springs.

Thanks.

dont know about now-a-days, but they use to use 90/10 shocks for drag racing. The front end went up easy and fast for weight transfer.

Default They Still Sell Them

Yes ghoastrider, they still use and sell them but that means I'd need to replace the shocks each time I want to spend the afternoon at the strip. They can't be used on the street. A lot of work for an afternoons' fun. The adjustable shocks seem to be the middle-of-the-road option. Double adjustable would be the best but gee are they expensive. I'm getting some info from Spax, an English manufacturer, but I'm expecting a prohibitive price. I'm sure a top quality product but I can't justify the dollars. Even the QA1s are $140 each, though they are only single adjustable. At least they can be adjusted while on the car and I think I can justify that price (if I don't tell the wife).

Sure you can use the 90/10's on the street....never know when you need a good launch!

Just don't go around corners to fast!

Gkull has it right...anything to stiffen the rear and not allow camber change is generally a good thing.
