I'm replacing some of the interior panels in my 1982. Was removing the center t-top panel (the one with the interior light). Many will know that you have to disassemble the light so you can remove that panel.
Anyway, after reassembling I noticed my interior lights are no longer shutting off. I did not work on anything else. I was sloppy while putting the center light back together and briefly touched the two wires....small spark. Could that have shorted whatever relay or device that is used to create the delay before shutting down the lights? I really cannot think of anything else that would have been impacted with what I was doing. Nothing else involved electronics.
Where would the switch be that controls those lights (top center and lower lights on each side up under the dash)?
As always, any help is appreciated.
Sidenote, gotta say I ordered several interior pieces from Willcox. First time using them. Have used Ecklers previously. Willcox service guys were first rate. Very knowledgeable, helpful, even offer hints and advice on things. I will definitely use them again........
Your switches are in the door jamb.I doubt you damaged the delay timer but it is possible. My guess would be you have the white wire grounded at the dome light. Its easy to do.
edit -make sure the headlight switch is not rotated on

Many thanks. I'll look at the wires tomorrow.....hopefully that's all it is. I guess all three lights are on that same circuit. Not sure I had paid attention to that before.
Love the new panels though.
I see you're in Dayton. I'm in Atlanta now but was born in Piqua. My parents lived there for several years. They moved back to Kentucky where they were from and where I actually grew up.
If you unplug the delay relay in the connector are 2 white wires. If you put a jumper between them that will bypass the relay and make it a regular on and off int. lights. If this makes them go out the delay could be bad but always check your 20 amp."gages" fuse.
edit-My dad was from Middlesboro-I like Kentucky.

Good tip about jumping wires....worked fine. I did manage to track down a used timer at a local corvette specialty shop. $15, no guarantee it would work but owner says I would not have taken it out if it didn't work. Sitting around for years does strange things. Was definitely the timer I fried. Amazing how sensitive those things are.
