Default Help to Remove Valve Covers
Guys

I'm having trouble breaking my steel valve covers free without damaging them. They are sealed with red RTV and seem pretty tight but one is leaking oil on the exhaust manifold. Any advice on breaking them free? I'm afraid prying on them is going to distort them permanently.

Use a putty knife where they are leaking, should be able to get in there

Also you can try a rubber mallet.Hit them in several places on the sides but not hard enough to bend them.

If they seem extremely stuck then the intake manifold may be holding them down. This happened on my last motor. Good luck.

I have used a rubber mallet with success before. Putty knife is good suggestion also.
