That's simply not true for Corvettes. Starting in MY 1969, Corvettes came with an internal regulator. I offer as documentation the 1969 Chassis Service Manual covering the full Chevrolet line (pg. Specifications 12) and 1969 Stingray Guidebook by Rick Bizzoco (pg.174), as well as my 1969 convertible which has an internally regulated alternator. GM calls it the Delcotron 10-SI.

Both my '72 and '73 have internal voltage regulators.

New one is in. It measured 15.15V when I first started the car. I put 10 miles on the car and when I returned I measured the alternator at idle and it read 14.40V. Woot!!!

When you say you measured the alternator, you are checking the voltage at the battery, right? What is the voltage between the pos/neg posts, car running at idle? That is the voltage to be concerned with...if it's under 14vdc at the battery, you're good.
