Default A few more ??

I was thinking about putting side pipes on my 78 and I know they did not come that way but wanted to know what it would look like? Any one have a 78 with them on?

What is the easy way to get the turn signal switch out of the steering column? Is there a good picture of how the whole steering column goes back togetter?

And last but not lest I there a hiden build sheet in the car any where?
Thanks for the help
Adam

I ll take the 3rd question... There should be a tank sticker/build sheet on the top of the gass tank... becareful taking it off. I actually I recommend takin it off when you drop the tank. Half of mine is still up there!

With what sidepipes are you planning to go with? Hooker or Something similar to factory?

For your Steering column questions look here. Jim is THE recognized expert.

There are plenty of guys that have sidepipes, IMO it's Hookers or stay underbody. For other reasons I have chosen to stay underbody, but if you get sidepipes then seriously consider getting SideShields. They were a vendor here, but I don't see their ad anymore.

Or you can go the cheap route with patriot shielded sidepipes. They're $200 from Jegs, including the heat shields. Obviously not the performance route... but that's what I'm going to be doing over the winter.

Do a search on them, several members have them and like them.

If you need to pass smog checks where you are side pipes may be a problem, as far as I know there is no company that makes sidepipes with cats in them, Thats why Chevy stopped offering them in 75 I believe.

I've been lusting after side pipes myself, but I'm sure to be in the dog house if I drop 1500 - 2k on the Hookers I want.

Women always get bent out of shape when you spend that much on good Hookers. Sometimes it's hard being a guy and lusting after the things we do.

I love Hookers. However, if I was paying for them, I'd probably pass. My vette came with a pair. Oh wait, your talking about exhaust?

Default one more option

In reference to your sidepipe question, you can make your own using the available fiberglass replicas. Mine were painted with an aluminum color
and black and a muffler shop fabricated the exhaust pipes. I used hedman side exhaust headers. Very nice sound and no leg burns. Depending on how much work you are willing to do on your own it is a much less costly alternative to the Hooker setup. I purchased mine on ebay already painted so the cost was even lower.
Good luck

I have side pipes on mine. I made mine myself for about $70.oo you can see them here with the covers off prior to pinting the car.

I am also using the fiberglass replica covers. The come un painted so the sky is the limit as to color. I painted mine black, and then added the yellow to the raised ribs later.

For supporting the pipes I made a bracket using an exhaust hanger with an intigrated rubber insulator strap. I welded the metal part of the hanger to the glass pack near the outlet, and welded a bolt to the frame to use as a stud. I trimed the insulator to length, and drilled a hole in it to hang on the stud, then secured with a fender washer, and a nut.
