Default NEED HELP - 76 Vette dash switches???

Anyone that can identify and tell me what these switches do on my 76 Vette. I just purchased the car.

The first switch is factory and is located on the driver's side center console on the extension near the gas pedal:

The 2nd switch was tucked behind the above panel and is a metal toggle On/Off switch:

The 3rd and 4th switches are under the dash (the one on the right appears to be a headlight override service switch):

And lastly is the wire that was snipped off and runs from the rear of the center console towards the front:

Have you asked the seller? Looks like Bubba has been busy. Good luck with the car.

Does your car have an electric antenna? The switch in the first picture appears to be a rocker switch which many use with an electric antenna to run it up and down. It does not appear factory to me. Power antenna was not an option until '78 from the factory.

The toggle switch in the second picture is not factory and could be nothing more than an owner installed "kill" switch. You could test it to see what effect it has in both positions, if any.

The button on the left in the third picture looks like an add on horn button. Does your horn work when you use the normal horn button? The switch on the right looks more like the trip-meter reset button, at least the **** does. If should be spring loaded down, and if you press it up and twist it, it will reset the trip-meter to zero... if it works.

As for the wire in the last picture, I'm not familiar with it, but I would definitely test it for live voltage and tape it off until you find out what it does. It could be that it was run to the right rear compartment as there is live voltage back there for the compartment light.

Good luck, wish I could be more help... GUSTO

The first one looks like the rear window defrost switch.

OK.....on my 76 the first pic is the rear window defroster. 76 was the first year for that. Puzzled the crap out of me too. Second pic don't know, mine doesn't have it that I can see. Third and fourth switch......third I don't know, fourth looks like the odometer/tripmeter reset pin/switch on mine. Last....don't know. Snipped wires are never good.

Hope that helped some......

Window defroster sounds right...ditto fourth..that is the little **** to twist and reset the trip O. I agree that the one next to it looks like a horn button...see how the white wire naturally lays and see if there is another end in that area..otherwise someone maybe fixed the horn and cut the wire to the black button because it wasn't needed anymore?? maybe?

First one is rear window defroster should have a motor right behind the driver My 75 has the same. That gray one in the console I think from memory is a light aren't all the lights that gray color?

76 was the first year for the "lines on glass" style defroster, IIRC. Before that it used a blower behind the driver rear wheel well. I think the switch was the same.
